Restaurants and Snacks

Fujiya “Pekochan-yaki” (不二家 ペコちゃん焼き)

The only store in Japan where you can buy cute Pekochan-yaki. There are always about ten different flavors available, and some are limited-time only—examples of flavors: strawberry, custard cream, cheese cream, chocolate, etc.
It is on the right side when you go up the hill.

Tsujihan (つじ半)

This restaurant offers a seafood bowl with freshly chopped fish on top. It’s fun to watch the chef cook right in front of you. It is a unique style of seafood rice bowl, similar to a dish called “Hitsu-mabushi” where soup is added when you want to enjoy different flavors.
It is on the right side when you go up the hill.

CANAL CAFE

An outside cafe where you can relax and enjoy the view of the river (the moat of Edo Castle back in the day) and the trains running nearby. This cafe is popular for its cakes. When the weather is nice, you can even take a boat ride.

Stores

Toushien (陶柿園)

Here’s a store where you can buy reasonably priced pottery, plates, and glass. The store also has chopstick rests and other products that would be great souvenirs. 
It is on the right side when you go up the hill.

Tansuya (たんす屋)

This store sells new and used kimonos. Haori (kimono gowns) and other items are sold at reasonable prices and are popular as souvenirs.
It is on the right side when you go up the hill.

Rakuzan (楽山)

A tea shop popular among the locals. It is loved not only for the quality of the tea, but also for its customer service. They have a wide range of products, from reasonably priced to high-end, and many customers buy them as gifts. I always buy tea here for my guests who like Japanese tea.
It is on the right side when you go up the hill.
